The 10th grade project (2009-2010) is based on Time magazine's well know feature called Time 100.
Phase #1: Define Influential (the week of Sep 15th)
a. each class produces ONE definition--post it as a comment to this blog message
b. vote for top three out of the seven or so definitions posted by class
c. teachers take top three and combine them if necessary, come up with the ONE definition of influence for this project
Phase #2 : Candidate Selection (the week of Nov 30th)
a. each student selects TEN influential people in world history (1850- present); write a summary argument re: your candidate (between 100-150 words please)--rough draft due TBA (click here for a helpful resource; look at the resources for the AP summer reading as well, click here.) And here.
b. Final draft due TBA (post on student individual blog on this site)
c. Eliminate duplicate candidates by class ad then by teacher
d. Each 10th grade Social Sciences teacher compiles his final list and submits to survey monkey site (click here)
e. 10th graders vote on top 100--during class; publish list
Phase#3: Top 10 ranked (in Jan, 2010 )
a. each class will create a top-ten list using the 100 list above
b. publish the lists by class and the overall top-ten standing according to highest point totals, along with biographical information and rationale for each influential figure selected
* Send it to Time magazine, NYT,Vigornia, Parent Newsletter, WA Mash, The Dwight School in New York City, the Royal Grammar School in Worcester England, and King's Academy in Jordon.
